Beginning Chapter Books for the Girly Girl

If you know a little girl who loves cozy kitchens, baking cookies, and shopping with the girls, Cynthia Rylant's Ready-for-Chapters series Cobble Street Cousins may be just her cup of tea.

In a timeless era of comfortable cottages and picturesque little shops, three cousins spend the summer with their pretty young Aunt Lucy while their parents are abroad. While Aunt Lucy manages her neighborhood flower shop, the cousins get to know everyone by becoming the proprietors of the Cobble Street Cookie Company. In the process of making deliveries they meet an engaging young man who soon becomes Aunt Lucy's sweetheart and gives the cousins hope that they will soon be members of a wedding.

It's a cozy, short, and sweet series. Written on Accelerated Reader levels from 3.5 to 4.2, the books feature a plenitude of charmingly homey illustrations by Wendy Anderson Halperin. A visit with cousins Rosie, Tess, and Lily is like having a sleepover with your best girlfriends!

  • I'm the witness of the blog, I mean I think you're doing a great blog, specially with the picking issue. All is about the cozy kitchens, perhaps, I will visit the blog often to increase my ideas about this type of things.
