Embrace Me! Hug A Bug by Eileen Spinelli

"Hug your darling, hug the cook.
Hug a painting, hug a book!

Hug your friend who is feeling blue.
Hug the fire fighter too."

Hug a bug, but gently, please.
Hug a kitten--just don't squeeze.

In her soft and warm little picture book, Hug a Bug, Eileen Spinelli creates a sweet rhyming tribute to the all-purpose hug. Illustrator Dan Andreason's old-fashioned curvy Kewpie-Doll characters, rounded and tinted in soft tintype colors, are just right for this delightful story-in-rhyme. Pair this one with Patrick McConnell's Hug Time, another tribute to the contagious power of the embrace.

Step right up and hug a grouch.
He'll see how sweet a hug can be.
He'll hug a waitress, hug a tree.
He'll join you in this hugging spree.
