Counting Valentines: 10 Valentine Friends by Janet Schulman

LISTEN, KIDS (BABY, TOO)!

IT'S TIME TO SAY "I LOVE YOU!"

It's the time when creative kids pull out the construction paper, doilies, glitter glue, and scissors and make some Valentines for friends. The late Janet Schulman's latest (and regrettably last) holiday counting book has her little crafters hard at work, making personalized cards and decorating the house for the big Valentine's Day celebration. Annie Lee draws squishable slugs for Patrick, who likes bugs, Baby, who loves her cat, gets a missive from Alex with her cat in a hat, and Baby responds with her best scribbles for everyone:

TOM'S SECRET CRUSH ON ANNIE LEE

INSPIRES A BLOOMING VALENTINE TREE.

All this creativity ends in a Valentine's Day party for all ten kids, and in Schulman's 10 Valentine Friends (Alfred A Knopf, 2011), you can count on a lovely time for all when the friends celebrate Valentine's Day together.

Schulman's earlier holiday counting books include 10 Easter Egg Hunters: A Holiday Counting Book, 10 Trick-or-Treaters, and 10 Trim-the-Tree'ers, all notable rhyming counting board books for the youngest holiday celebrants.
