Keeping Watch! Is It Christmas Yet? by Sandra Magsamen

SO HOW WILL YOU KNOW IF CHRISTMAS IS HERE?

YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO ANSWER SOME QUESTIONS, MY DEAR!

What are the clues of Christmas coming?

Christmas cards going out and coming in?

Goodies being prepared and stockpiled in the kitchen?

Those are early signals that Christmas is in the air.

IS THERE A TREE IN YOUR HOUSE WITH A STAR ON THE TOP?

YES! That's a very good sign. But there are more clues to collect.

There are the appearances of faraway family for visits. How about jolly gingerbread men on the tree? And could those be reindeer flying way up high in the sky?

And when one morning presents appear under that tree, does that mean it is really Christmas?

All of these signs are part of the season of Christmas. Traditional symbols are given their due, in Sandra Magsamen's Is It Christmas Yet? (Sourcebooks/Jabberwocky Books, 2016), a jolly list of events that hint that yes, Christmas is coming.  In a perfect preschool introduction to the customs of Christmas, Magsamen's jolly faux naif illustrations introduce the signs of Christmas' coming in simple but appealing artwork that will engage young readers.  The questions posed will no doubt inspire little ones to offer their own signs of Christmas as they appear, making for some interactive sharing fun.
