Tourist Trauma: The Pout-Pout Fish Far Far From Home by Deborah Diesen

MR. FISH SENT OFF FOR FLYERS, AND HE STUDIED EACH LOCATION.

THEN HE PICKED THE PERFECT PLACE FOR HIS VERY FIRST VACATION.

All his plans are perfected. Pout-Pout packs his bags with everything he may need.

What could go wrong?

Well, to begin, there is a detour. But Mr. Fish reminds himself that he loves to travel. The detour will just be a little more fun.

I'M A FISH WHO LOVES TO TRAVEL.

I'M A FISH WHO LOVES TO ROAM.

AND I'M HAVING AN ADVENTURE

ON MY TRIP AWAY FROM HOME.

But going the long way around means there's a lot of swimming, and Mr. Fish finds he forgot his snack. But then a passing eel directs him to the nearest diner, Rub-A-Dub Grub, where he meets new fish friends and he's soon right back on track.

But then his suitcase explodes! He has to find a luggage-fixer and repack everything. Oh, well, that's just one more little unexpected adventure.

At last he reaches his hotel, the Hellostone Lodge. Mr. Fish is fatigued, and thinks an early bedtime sounds great.

But best-laid plans oft go wrong. Pout-Pout forgot to pack his Snoozy Snuggler! How can he sleep without it?

It's imagination to the rescue, as Mr. Fish teaches himself to dream of dreaming with his Snoozy, and all is well in Deborah Diesen's latest in series, The Pout-Pout Fish, Far, Far from Home (A Pout-Pout Fish Adventure) (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2017).  Diesen's Pout-Pout Fish is a beloved character who always manages to turn troubles around and make them fun, and artist Don Hanna outdoes himself with lovely pastel pages filled with undersea flora and fauna in this latest adventure for Mr. Fish fans.
