Bird Seed, Bird Feed! Biscuit in the Garden by Alyssa Satin Capicilli
The sun is shining and the garden is blooming. It's time to do a little gardening.
The girl has her pail and trowel at the ready as she and Biscuit come out of the tool shed. Biscuit chases a butterfly. He stares at a worm!
But now, why is Biscuit barking?
"WOOF! WOOF"
"OH, BISCUIT! YOU FOUND A LITTLE BIRD!"
The bird feeder is empty. Maybe the little blue bird is hungry!
The girl goes back to the shed and drags out a big bag of bird seed. She fills her trowel with bird seed and heads for the feeder, but Biscuit is still curious. He jumps up to get a better look at what is in the big bag. He pokes his head down deep to sniff what is inside. Uh Oh! The big bag tips over and spills bird seed deep over the ground. Biscuit's nose is covered with seeds. WOOF?
Suddenly all the birds are fluttering around Biscuit and the spilled seeds.
"BISCUIT! NOT THE BIRD SEED!"
But Biscuit has certainly got the birds' attention as the garden is suddenly full of all kinds and colors of tweeting feathered friends, in Alyssa Satin Capicilli's Biscuit in the Garden (My First I Can Read) (Harper), another MY FIRST I CAN READ BOOK among author Capcilli's many books for early beginning readers with stories of fun with a puppy who is also eager to learn about something new. As always the charming illustrations of child and pup by art Pat Schories provide clues for new readers just learning to decode a story. For more of Biscuit's discovery of the world of other animals, share this one with Biscuit's Day at the Farm (My First I Can Read).
