More Dangerous Books for Boys: National Geographic's Top 100 Adventure Stories

If you've been on duty at the International Space Station for the last month or so, you may not have heard about the runaway best seller The Dangerous Book for Boys, but then, you probably don't need it! It's become such a sensation that even Charlie Gibson was plugging it last night on the ABC News.

If you're looking for some truly "dangerous" books, here's a link to National Geographic Adventure's top 100 adventure stories.

This bibliography features true adventures like Hertzog's Annapurna, Marco Polo's Travels, Twain's Roughing It, Heyerdahl's Kon-Tiki, Read's Alive: The Story of the Andes Survivors, and Richard Byrd's Alone: The Classic Polar Adventure. Any of the books on this list will get kids away from extreme sports on the tube and into a great true adventure.

  • My son - almost 16 - has this book! I wish we'd had it when he was younger, but he did have The American Boy's Handy Book. He loves these books, and so do his friends...who were always on the computer and playing video games. We don't have video games in our house, and I require the boys to find things to do outdoors...after all, we live in the country in a coastal area...why be in the house on a computer????

Your blog is marvelous. I'm going to let others know about it and I'll link to it on my website. You have a treasure trove of great stuff here!
