Author Blair Thornburgh's tongue-in-cheek new picture book Skulls! (Atheneum Books, 2019) proves that skulls are not dull, packing a lot of information into a small package (rather like our skulls, really) in his new primary level treatise on the anatomy and physiology of the skull, including an appendix, Cool Skull Facts, including the fact that the adult skull has 22 bones and that the human head weighs about ten pounds--which accounts for those random neck pains we humans have.

Artist Scott Campbell, creator of the hilarious artwork in Drew Daywalt's hit, Sleepy, the Goodnight Buddy (see review here), has provided the funny illustrations for an informative and fun read-aloud for the spooky season that fits into the primary grade science curriculum like your noggin fits into bike helmet.
